In 2005, Dundee entered into a partnership to acquire Bear Valley Mountain Resort, a 1400 acre ski area located on the western slopes of the Sierra Mountain range of Northern California. Once an important ski destination in California, Bear Valley's infrastructure and reputation had slipped and Dundee saw an opportunity to turn it around with the infusion of new capital and vision. As part of that transaction, Dundee and its partners acquired a significant amount of the undeveloped land in the town of Bear Valley. Plans are being developed for pedestrain village providing commercial space and about 350 condominium residences. Underpinning the entire development is a new high speed chairlift joining the town to the ski area.
